Detox and Transform: How I Reset My Body and Mind
I Haven’t Eaten for 7 Days: My ZenCleanz Rainbow Detox Journey
This is the longest I’ve ever gone without food! Before this, the most I’d done was intermittent fasting—using the 16/8 method or going 24-36 hours without eating, usually from Sunday lunch to Monday night or Tuesday morning. It’s something I’ve done based on recommendations from Mindy Peltz and other health experts.
So, why a 7-day fast?
For over three years, I’d heard about ZenCleanz and their signature Rainbow Cleanse. It’s a 7-day detox designed to first clear out the colon, paving the way to cleanse the liver. The process helps flush out toxins, heavy metals, and gallstones, while also addressing stuck emotions like fear and anger, which are often stored in the liver.
The cleanse uses Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) enzymes made from fruits and vegetables fermented for over three years.
I’d seen a friend go from dealing with constant bloating to a flat stomach, still maintained two years later with no digestive issues. Another friend saw her chronic fatigue disappear after struggling with it for over a year.
I was intrigued, but I had questions.
Why ZenCleanz?
At first, I couldn’t get past the price tag. I asked myself: Would it be better to invest in a tailored naturopath program? Or just grab an $80 detox kit from the health food store?
Eventually, I realised that while ZenCleanz is an investment, it’s an investment in myself, my health, and my longevity. When I looked closer, I realised I’d save about $450 on groceries, eating out, petrol, and socialising that week. I even paused my gym membership for two weeks, making the overall cost feel far more manageable.

Plus, I’d never made time for a naturopath session, and honestly, I hate tinctures—they’re hard to stomach.
When I’d previously tried a detox kit from my local health food store, it included bentonite clay, psyllium, tinctures, and green juices. It tasted awful, left me completely blocked up, and didn’t feel safe. Worse, I saw no results.
That’s when it hit me: the time was now.
Timing My Transformation
I’ve been a business owner for over 20 years, a personal branding photographer for 15 years, and a transformation coach for 5 years. I recently hosted my first retreat, which was incredible and deeply transformational for my guests.
It was time to fully step into my own transformation and release what was holding me back. Photography, though it has brought me so much joy, has also kept me feeling stuck for the past seven years. I’ve had a deep yearning to give more to more people, to maximise my energy and time, and to serve others in bigger ways.
Letting go externally also meant letting go internally. Clearing out the toxins, heavy metals, and blocked emotions in my gut and liver was a necessary part of stepping fully into alignment. It was time to elevate on every level.
I was ready.
Letting go externally also meant letting go internally.
Preparing for the Cleanse
The first step was finding the right time in my calendar—no travel, shoots, events, or major meetings. I rescheduled a couple of coaching clients, letting them know it was better for me to give them my full focus after the cleanse.
I also tied the cleanse to my clients’ transformations. Most of them are navigating their own changes: transitioning jobs, uplevelling their business, or stepping into their true selves by breaking old patterns and masks. This was my chance to model that transformation from the inside out.
Next, I completed a 2-month fitness challenge at BFT, so my body felt strong on the outside. On the day before the cleanse, I ate super light: a scrambled egg wrap, an orange, and some pineapple. I didn’t feel hungry and believed my body and mind were preparing for the process ahead.
To be honest, I had no idea what I was in for. I warned my family to keep their distance and prepare for mood swings, heavy emotions, headaches, and fatigue. I braced myself for what I thought would feel like the depths of hell, as I’d experienced during a juice cleanse (which I’ll never do again!).
What I Purged
Over the seven days, the results were undeniable—and, for those who are curious, I documented what I purged.
From mucoid plaque in my intestines to gallstones released during the liver cleanse, the detox cleared out years of build-up. The mucoid plaque, which lines the walls of your intestines, was softened and expelled. It can prevent the absorption of nutrients and often holds onto toxins, so clearing it out was a big part of the process.
If you’re serious about doing a cleanse like this, you may find it fascinating to see the photos. Be warned—they’re graphic! But if you’re curious, you can view them here.

Reflecting on the Cleanse
The week was intense yet surprisingly manageable:
Day 1: I started with 100% energy but dropped to 10% by the afternoon. Detox symptoms hit hard, and I needed to rest.
Days 2-5: My energy stabilised at around 60-70%. I kept work light, focused on top-level tasks, and allowed space for rest and reflection.
Days 6-7: These were the most energising. After the liver cleanse, I felt euphoric—like the lens of my life had been polished and the fog lifted.
Post-cleanse, I noticed profound changes: no bloating after eating bread or pizza, a natural draw toward cleaner foods, and steady energy. Exercise has felt effortless, and I’ve continued to feel lighter—both physically and emotionally.
Final Thoughts
The ZenCleanz Rainbow Detox wasn’t just a physical reset; it was a total transformation. If you’re feeling foggy, stuck, or heavy, this cleanse can help you release what no longer serves you—inside and out.
